“Dear politicians, (…) Without necessity, we are causing children and young people deep emotional distress and justifying this action with flimsy theses, facts and figures. I urge you to take action to ensure that all coronavirus-related measures at nurseries, schools and other institutions are stopped immediately. We cannot justify the collateral damage. If you no longer have the courage or strength to take this step, step down from your role and leave the field to people who want to use all their heart and soul to shape the future for and, above all, with children.”

For more than 25 years, childhood researcher Bernhard Hanel has been working on the question of what children and young people need in order to shape their lives in a healthy and powerful way. With Kukuk GmbH, which he founded, he builds unique playgrounds throughout Europe. There are nine Kukuk playgrounds in Basel alone.
